Dakota Pictures is a television and feature film production company based in Hollywood California with satellite offices in Montreal Canada (Dakota Pictures Canada) and New York.

For over two decades Dakota has been actively producing scripted and reality-based series and specials with a strong history of being the destination for alternative comedy and mainstream entertainment. Dakota has received over a dozen Emmy nominations for projects including “Flight of the Conchords”, “Mr. Show”, “Bored To Death” and many others. And as the co-creator and innovator of the award show opening film concept, Dakota has produced all of Billy Crystal’s Oscar openers as well as seventeen opening films for the annual MTV Movie Awards and three special Primetime Emmy’s films. Other notable projects include “Brand X with Russell Brand” for FX, “Viva La Bam” for MTV, and a great many stand-up specials including Bill Maher, George Lopez, John Oliver, Dave Chapelle and Jim Gaffigan.

Film and TV Producer/Director Troy Miller (troymiller.com) established Dakota Pictures over a decade ago as a creative destination for talented writers, directors, and producers. With a built-in infrastructure of production management and creative support, Dakota Pictures has proven to be a safe haven for both creators and buyers. Throughout the company’s history, Dakota and Miller have been nominated for over a dozen Emmy Awards.
